SCHOOL OF ROCK 2012

Since 2006 thestudents at Churchill Alternative School have been rocking audiences with theirannual 'Churchill School of Rock' performances.  Created initially as away to get more students, and more boys particularly, involved in the juniorchoir program, the rock and roll theme has proved overwhelmingly successful. From a total of 17 students the 'School of Rock' brought the numbers upto over 75 students the first year, and has ranged between 85 and 106 membersin the years since then.  Over 600 performershave taken part in this phenomenon, entertaining over 7000 screaming fansthroughout the years!

This year there willbe over 90 students, backed up by a band consisting of a dozen adult musicians,a dozen student musicians, and a 35 piece Ukulele group.  The theme ofthis year's show is rock and roll songs from the movies, and it is beingdedicated to the memory of a long time Churchill EA, Kadra Koulmiye, who passedaway in March, but who will rock on in the hearts of all School of Rockers.

The big event thisyear is at the Fisher Park/Summit Auditorium on May 4th.  There are twoshows.  The daytime show startsat 12:30pm, and should last approximatelyan hour and a half. The evening show starts at 7:00pm, and should run about an hour and forty five minutes.

There is no chargefor admission, but donations will be collected to go towards the EducationFoundation for families in need in our area.  Everyone is encouraged tocome on out and rock!

In addition, there ismore exciting news...

School of Rock hasbeen invited to play a third show, on Sunday, June 10th, at 12:30 pm, onthe main stage at Westfest.  Moredetails can be found on the Westfest website.
