Active and Safe Routes to School

The Churchill Alternative - Active and Safe Routes to School (ASRS) committee exists to promote healthy and safe ways to get to school.

This includes encouraging all that can walk or cycle to school to do so on a regular basis -- for part of the way at least.  Our tools include participation in IWALK, Walking Wednesdays, Walking School Bus programs, and the new School Travel Planning program.

One of the key things is that the approach to the school itself has to be safe, and unfortunately this has not always been the case.  The committee produced a Driving Plan in 2007, and continues to revise it.

The committee meets by email and approximately once a month in person.
