1.   NextCASC Meeting:  Will be held onTuesday, February 7 at 6:30 pm in the 2nd floor staff room.  We’vechanged the date!  It’s a weekearlier.  Along with our usualCASC agenda, we will also have a recapof the Mentoring Boys seminar that a group of parents went toback in October.  This discussion will beled by our Education Committee.  Even ifyou don’t have a boy(s) there are some interesting tidbits that can be appliedto the girl learning environment as well. We look forward to seeing you there!

 

2.   Churchill Presents: Come and enjoy an evening with Dr. Gordon Neufeld,, authorof “Hold On To Your Kids”, on Thursday,February 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Nepean High School Auditorium.Tickets in advance:  $20 per person  or at the door:  $25 per person.   Tickets can be purchasedonline through Dovercourt Recreation Centre (enter course # 76642), orcall 613–798-8950

 

3.   Winter Walk to School Day andCarnival:  Next Wednesday, Feb. 8th  walk all the way, walk part-way, car-pool,park & walk, then join us for music, fun and hot cider in the yard from7:45-8:30 am.

5.   Math Electives at Churchill:  Churchill Alternative is having a"Math Electives Day" on FridayMarch 2nd. This will be just like our "Arts Electives" day thatwe had in the fall, but with a focus on learning and enjoying activities thatinclude a mathematical component.  We arelooking for volunteers to help plan the activities and help out on electiveday. We will need lots of volunteers to make this a success, and are lookingfor people to help out in any capacity. You might be thinking: "I don't think I can help - I'mnot so good with math."  Not true! (Likely on both counts!) Theactivities on electives day are mainly about having fun - the math happensnaturally along the way. This will be a great opportunity to learn some games,crafts, and activities in which you can engage with your kids, and with math,in a fun way.

 

Or maybe you might be thinking: "Hey, I love math and wouldlike to help plan some activities!"That's great! A number of teachers are looking for help infurther developing their sessions, and if you are available to help work withthem that would be wonderful.  Please considermaking March 2nd one of your volunteer days, and let us know if you canhelp."

 

7.   2011-2012 Yearbook:  Our 2011-2012Churchill Alternative School Yearbook is in the works!
