Names

Individual teachers decide whether students will call them by their first names.

Gifts

A communal gift to the classroom or the school (e.g., a for the classroom or a book for the library) is always welcome. This is communicated to the parents in the Nov./Dec. and May/June school newsletters.

Inclusiveness

Teachers and parents try to foster inclusiveness. Gift and card giving and delivery of party invitations at school are discouraged, unless ALL classmates are recipients. To facilitate this, it is helpful for teachers to distribute class lists with home addresses and phone numbers, as soon as the necessary permission is received, early in the academic year.

School Photographs

Early in the fall term, a professional photographer takes photographs of each class and of individual students. Parents may purchase these photos; however, there is no obligation to buy.

Field Trips

Please return Trip Authorization forms promptly, no later than the day before the trip date. OCDSB policy prohibits student participation in field trip activities unless the designated form has been completed and signed by the student's parent or guardian and is retained at the school prior to the trip. Students who do not return the signed trip form will remain at school and be supervised in another classroom.
