Statement of Beliefs

The following principles form the basis of our mission and goal statements:

  • Children learn in different ways at different times, from things around them that interest them, from adults, and from one another.
  • Learning involves the development of the whole child.
  • The subjects we study are increasingly related, and it is through knowledge of the interrelationships that students gain an understanding of the world.
  • Learning occurs when students are agents and initiators of their learning.
  • Learning is a shared responsibility.
  • Human development is a lifelong, continuous, sequential, and interactive process through which each person moves at a unique rate.
